Vivienne Westwood’s spring 1991 collection, titled, “Cut, Slash, & Pull,” referenced a 16th and 17th century technique of ripping up and stitching back together fabrics to create parallel tears across the garment. The process was labor intensive, as Westwood’s work came from the days before laser cutting, and required hand-done craftsmanship from her production team. These pieces, many of which dotted the runway, have since been recognized as some of the most iconic works of hers, and reside in museums around the globe.

These jeans feature a relaxed, straight-leg cut, and are see-through due to the gashes down the leg.
