Chrome Hearts x Rick Owens 2010 Filigree Cross Vest
Chrome Hearts x Rick Owens 2010 Filigree Cross Vest
The genesis of this ostensibly anathema collaboration traces to the shared roots of these Los Angeles labels, who both were stocked at Maxfields Los Angeles in their formative years and received crucial guidance and exposure from the boutique.
This pairing endures as the crown jewel of an early 2010s revival of gaudy 80s Rock n Roll aesthetics, featuring players like Christoph Decarnin and Nicolas Ghesquire in Paris, and labels like “If Six Was Nine” and Yasuyuki Ishii over in Japan. Many of period’s signatures surface within the collaboration, including fur collars, asymmetric closures, impossibly narrow silhouettes, and of course, lots of silver.
This collaboration featured a variety of one-of-one pieces — rare items from Rick’s “Hun” sub-line decked out with Chrome Hearts hardware — with retail beginning at 3,000 USD and climbing past five figures. Though difficult to conclusively verify, this pink vest is likely the only of its kind produced, featuring a large Chrome Hearts rhodium safety pin on front, and a sterling silver filigree cross fastened into the back. Mirroring the steering silver Chrome Hearts tag is Rick’s initial metal tag, featuring the address of his Paris flagship.
