The word “Vrai” — French for “true” — appeared on a litany of garments from Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring 2002 collection. It was seen on delicate appliqués atop mesh dresses and tops, and most famously on the back of leather track jackets and pants. The former, seen here, is perhaps the most coveted of such garments. It’s cut slim and cropped, and like many pieces from the collection, utilizes appliqués to create a 3-D feel.
