Raf Simons AW2005 All Shadows Hoodie
Raf Simons AW2005 All Shadows Hoodie
Raf Simons’ fall 2005 collection drastically departed from his work composed beforehand. The shapes were decidedly modern, playing with shape and juxtaposing impossibly narrow tops against wide-cut trousers, and vice-versa. Military details with inverted proportions were adopted, such as trench-coat belts which pulled tight like a corset around the waist, and officer jackets with padded shoulders.
The graphic pieces released for “History of my World” presented a contrast from the severity of the runway. The words and images, arranged by Peter De Potter, offered a portrait of melancholy more commonly associated with Simons. The now-famous phrase “All Shadows and Deliverance,” was taken from a song titled “One Hundred Years” by the Cure, and appears excerpted on this hoodie, which features extreme proportions, fitting massively oversized atop the wearer, with its slashed-open body giving it the appearance of a cape.
