Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme AW2008 Bat Sweater
Yohji Yamamoto Pour Homme AW2008 Bat Sweater
Before his fall 2008 show, Yohji Yamamoto declared, "I thought menswear was becoming a little bit feminine; I wanted to make it masculine again.” The show’s silhouettes were decidedly masculine, borrowing design signatures from navel and military garb. Within these familiar shapes were numerous signatures of Yamamoto, with layers conjured from patchwork fabrics, cutouts, and asymmetric and doubled lapels, among other techniques. There were likewise the pops of color which had become a common sight in his mid-2000s work, with bright green and orange suits appearing on the runway.
This sweater features an intricate jacquard image of a bat, and is cut with a drop shoulder and relaxed fit.
