Dior Homme AW2004 Eye Shirt
Dior Homme AW2004 Eye Shirt
By fall 2004’s “Victim of the Crime” collection, it had become clear that Hedi Slimane’s preoccupation with Berlin and its club scene had begun to wane. Gone was the severity of the preceding collections, “Luster” and “Strip,” and in its place was a budding love affair with indie rock. One part glam, one part mod, and one part grunge, Slimane’s runway was rife with sneakers and stripes and pops of color. This shift was paramount for Slimane’s legacy and Dior Homme’s status as a menswear powerhouse, as the connection between the designer and the indie rock scene became inexorable over the following years, with the lines gradually blurring as to who was influencing whom.
The eye shown here is a recurring visual motif from the season. Its print is made with a wax-like texture that calls back Slimane's two preceding collections, which heavily employed the material.
