Vivienne Westwood SS1985 "Mini-Crini" Polka Dot Denim
Vivienne Westwood SS1985 "Mini-Crini" Polka Dot Denim
Vivienne’s spring 1985 collection marked the end of her five-year “New Romantic” period, which, cloaked in references to historical epochs, aimed to take punk mainstream. Titled "Mini-Crini,” a mocking reference to the stiff, conservative, crinoline fabrics which were popular during the 18th and 19th century, the work was described as a “cardinal change” by Westwood, as she altered her signature silhouette towards something more fitted. It was one of her early references to a distinct historical epoch, a motif she would explore numerous times in coming years.
These jeans feature an all-over polka dot print which was used across various garments from the season, and reissued several times throughout the coming decades.
Condition: 8.5/10. Minor discoloration on a few of the dots.
