Tom Ford’s work under Yves Saint Laurent coincided with his final few years at Gucci. His work for their Rive Gauche line was more subdued than his work at Gucci, continuing on the path his oft-rival Hedi Slimane put forth. Just like Slimane, Ford’s sartorial chops shined once separated from his shocking antics. He experimented with proportion more so than at Gucci, using both extremely slim and flowing silhouettes at YSL. His clothes remained focused on sex appeal, with luxurious silk suits and heavy doses of leather, while his provocative nature showed in small details such as bubble logo monogrammed belts.

This coat is a full-length duster made with an immense heavyweight leather. It’s buttery soft to the touch, yet sits flat across the wearer’s body. It features a rider jacket-style asymmetric zip, with hook fastening at the neck.
