Dior Homme AW2003 Luster Leather Pants
Dior Homme AW2003 Luster Leather Pants
Fall 2003’s “Luster” endures as Hedi Slimane’s most famous collection from his time at Dior Homme. Directly influenced by his time spent living in Berlin, its unveiling coincided with the release of a photography book rife with the city's young partiers whose image he crafted the collection from. It recreated the atmosphere of the city’s most notorious evening haunts through its dim lighting and pulsating techno soundtrack, while the sparse glimmers of light ironically came from black fabrics, which were made reflective through a variety of unique materials, including heavy wax, PVC, and lurex.
Pre-2004 Dior Homme pieces typically feature an immense amount of detail. Slimane comes from a couture background, and before their production unit ramped up in 2004, such quality was heavily emphasized. These slim and stacked calf leather pants are reinforced the entire way down with heavy paneling running vertically and horizontally. The blacked-out zippers were a similar signature of the season.
