Vivienne Westwood AW1993 Velvet Rubens Jacket
Vivienne Westwood AW1993 Velvet Rubens Jacket
$3,500.00
This jacket comes from an epoch in Vivienne Westwood’s career where she repeatedly referenced the masters of Baroque art, reinterpreting their works as all-over prints across a variety of garments. The artwork shown here is from “The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus” by Peter Paul Rubens, and the piece's silhouette is borrowed from the Levi’s Type II. Westwood frequently used this shape throughout the ‘90s, yet unlike most of her jackets bearing it, which were crafted from denim, this one features a lush velvet.
