Throughout the ‘90s, Jean Paul Gaultier emphasized clothing celebrating the natural body. Across various seasons he crafted outerwear, suits and tops displaying male musculature, which employed a trompe l’oeil effect to create the optical illusion of a bare chested model. This jacket takes a more abstract approach to this concept, utilizing acetate patches placed over a form-fitting elastane base to create a resemblance to the human body.
