Raf Simons AW1997 Open-Knit Sweater
Raf Simons AW1997 Open-Knit Sweater
Raf Simons’ fall 1997 collection leaned heavily into his prep school background — Raf himself was the son of an army man and attended Catholic school. Cable knitwear, striped ties, and patched blazers lined his first-ever runway show, and on-stage these familiar garments were turned striking by the ultra-slim silhouettes they were cut with, and the punk attitudes of the models, who wore various spiked up or shoulder-length haircuts.
This wool sweater is quintessential ‘90s Raf Simons. It’s made with two different types of wool - a light, fishnet woven grey, and a heavier gauge black yarn. The cut is especially slim, as was typical for the era, and it features several playful touches, such as asymmetric sleeve lengths.
Condition: 8/10. There are two loose stitches - one on the front of the right arm, one on the back right arm.
