Raf Simons AW2000 "Confusion" Bomber Jacket
Raf Simons’ fall 2000 collection was set in a towering hall in the center of Paris, made to resemble the kind of high-end, staunch Catholic school he drew so much influence from. His army of models, made up to look like prep-school delinquents, strolled down the runway in heavily layered outfits of overcoats, bombers, and high collared uniform shirts. Razor-sharp tops were contrasted with oversized outerwear, which gave a rakish, hand-me-down quality to the otherwise austere clothing.
This jacket is one of the most iconic pieces Simons released in the first portion of his career. It is made from a military surplus bomber, giving it an oversized fit, and is embellished with collegiate patches which recurred throughout the collection. Notably, this iteration has a detachable, skirted wool lining.
